LED FAQ

Light-emitting diodes (LED) are semiconductors. As electrons pass through this type of semiconductor, it turns into light. LEDs are illuminated by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor material. When an electron meets a hole it falls into a lower energy level releasing energy in the form of a photon which creates the light.

Quality is our first consideration and with a huge investment in the development and production of our LED lighting products Supacell Digital LED are in prime position to provide the latest generation of hi-tech LED lighting products and bring them to the market.

That depends on what purpose you are going to use it for. Things to consider are brightness measured in lumen. Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT) is the type of light, measured on the Kelvin scale indicating (Warm White, Natural Cool White, Cool Day White) and of course you need to make sure you choose the right size and fitting.

Lumens are the measurement of brightness. More Lumens mean brighter and more powerful light while low Lumens produce much less light. We have a wide range of products producing Lumens from 225 to 12000 Lumen. So whatever type of brightness you need, choose Supacell Digital LED for your indoor and outdoor lighting.

Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT) is a measurement of colour or hue in a light source. CCT in lamps is measured in Kelvins (K) and the figure indicates the type of colour cast you can expect to see from the light. Lower CCT values of around 2700k produce a yellowish tinted warm feeling light while higher CCT values of around 6000K produce a blueish tinted clean and slightly cold feeling light. In general the CCT values found in common light fittings can be categorized as follows:

Colour Rendering Index (CRI) is generally used to measure light quality on a scale from 1-100. 100 being the value attributed to good natural day light. Supacell LED’s have a CRI value of 83+ producing an excellent quality of light. We guarantee our SDCM (Standard Deviation of Colour Matching) values are matched within ErP guidelines to achieve an almost perfect colour consistency.

Rooms vary in size and have many different uses. Some require more light than others and often lighting can also be used to create atmosphere. LED bulbs are suitable for lighting most three-dimensional spaces and besides homes can be used in places such as factories, office buildings, supermarkets, hotels, exhibition rooms, meeting rooms, hospitals, shop windows, etc. They are especially suitable for lighting and the decoration of luxurious high standard big spaces when multiple fittings are used. LED spot lights are mainly used as feature lighting or for decoration effect in homes, commercial spaces and high powered versions for construction lighting etc. LED tubes are suitable for home and widely used for commercial applications such as ambient lighting in office buildings, markets, restaurants, schools, hospitals, factories etc. LED flood lights are suitable for external use in night time illumination of public spaces such as hotels, parks and grounds. Feature lighting on paths and driveways, garden lighting, outdoor flood lighting and security lighting. Units with a built in PIR detector are ideal for courtesy and security lighting.

LED’s are extremely robust and renown for being long lasting products. Supacell LED’s are made with the latest advanced technologically developed components. Our LED’s have an average 30K+ hours life span which means if they are used 3 to 4 hours a day, they could last for 25 years!

Supacell LED lamps are mainly for indoor use though there are products available specifically for certain outdoor situations. There seems to be some confusion about how bright a light bulb really is. Most people are used to buying incandescent light bulbs and would use the number of watts as a guide to brightness. You would choose for example a 30, 60, or 100 watt bulb and would have a rough idea of how bright that bulb was going to be. For LED bulbs using the wattage doesn’t work very well anymore because the brightness is rated differently. To understand the brightness of LED we need instead to have a look at the lumens. The more the lumens, the brighter the LED light will be. Here is a guide comparing the old system of watts against the new system of lumens so you can get a better idea of how many lumens you will need to provide a similar amount of light to that of your old incandescent bulb.

Replacing your current bulb is simple by matching the same type of fitting on Supacell LED to that of your existing light socket. Supacell LED lamps are available for almost every conventional type of bulb. Supacell LED include the most common base types like B22, B15, E14, E27, GU10, MR 16 and many more.

We offer 100-240V full range voltage for most of our non-dimmable products compatible with the mains voltage of most countries in the world and these products can be used directly. The wide range of acceptable voltage can make sure that the life and brightness of the products will not be influenced by different voltages. For dimmable products the operating voltage range is 220-240V.
